“A tourist remains an outsider throughout his visit; but a sailor is part of the local scene from the monent he arrives.”
The Koh Chang archipelago remains one of the least crowded sailing areas in Southeast Asia. Daily passages between islands are short and comfortable, anchorages are rarely shared with more than one or two other boats, and many of the smaller islands are accessible only by yacht. It is a genuinely different experience from the busy charter routes around Phuket.
The photos below are taken from real charters operated by AQUA Charters in the Koh Chang archipelago and Koh Samui, Gulf of Thailand. You will find images from bareboat and skippered charter trips — sailing catamarans and monohulls at anchor in quiet bays, guests exploring islands by dinghy and SUP, on-deck life, sunsets from the cockpit, snorkelling stops, and the kind of uncrowded anchorages that make sailing in eastern Thailand genuinely different from Phuket or the Andaman Sea.
Destinations visible in the gallery include Koh Mak, Koh Kood, Koh Wai, Koh Rang and smaller uninhabited islands reachable only by boat. Charters run from our Koh Chang base between October and May, and from Koh Samui between May and September.
